First day of class: June 7
Dear Students,
I am excited to meet you all on Monday, June 7. I have confused myself many times over on the time of our class but finally I realize the room is scheduled for 1pm until 3:15pm. I anticipate some longer classes in a more compressed summer session. I'm looking forward to finalizing our schedule together.
The trouble with using Boalian theatre strategies as a method of collaborative pedagogy is the uncertainty of what is to follow. To honor our shared need for some structure, I have fashioned a syllabus with proposed assignments and goals. But so much of this work is improvisation and based on group membership. I look forward to learning more about each of you and hoping you'll join me in the assignment to share the blog-o-sphere and take turns "journaling" about our next few weeks of learning together.
Until Monday--I'll be rereading "Teachers Act Up: Creating Multicultural Learning Communities Through Theatre"--this time through the eyes of an instructor and student (vs. author). Thank you for joining me on this summer journey!
